Pagkarahay Murals: Street Artists Breathe Life to Derelict Walls

Country’s leading muralists and street artists travelled to Pili, Camarines Sur to participate in Pagkarahay Festival on February 24-25, 2018.

Muralists revamped unused walls and burnt buildings of Central Bicol State University, and painted the massive firewall of Pili Municipal Hall. With their striking images, they gave life to boring walls and buildings.

Dex Fernandez filled idle walls of the university with his iconic rounded, many-legged character; while Archie and Aleli Oclos gave tribute to farmers with their agriculture-themed mural paintings.

Cultural Center of the Philippines' Thirteen Artist Awardee Buen Abrigo made abstract line art on Pili Municipal Hall's huge firewall

There were also art collaboration that happened during the festival. Rasel "Dr. Karayom" Trinidad and Kris Abrigo combined their distinct styles to paint a 15-ft wall inside the university.

Pagkarahay Mural Painting activity was made possible with the support of the Municipality of Pili, Camarines Sur and Davies Paints Philippines.
